Richard and Lindsey have been restaurateurs for 18 years.

Starting at Artisan Restaurant, Hessle, East Yorkshire 2004 – 2013

This was our first restaurant, “our baby”! Conceived from nothing, but run with a passion to create our own unique style of restaurant. With just 16 covers, our small but perfectly formed dining room was a hit. Focusing on using the best local produce, simply prepared and served saw it become one of the highest rated restaurants in Yorkshire. What a start!

Next came The Falcon Inn, Withernwick, East Yorkshire 2014 – 2016

Our first venture into pub life. We turned this very rural place around, achieving Holderness’s first ever entry into the major food guides.

From there to Rascills Restaurant, Raskelf, North Yorkshire 2016 – 2019

Taking the leap over to North Yorkshire, we set up from scratch on a small working farm, once again gaining national recognition.

And now… The Hovingham Inn, Hovingham, North Yorkshire 2019 to present

Formerly, the Malt Shovel, the country pub has undergone a sympathetic renovation. A work in progress and one that’s been stopped, temporarily, in its tracks with the current Covid situation. However, good news during this time came in the form of our inclusion in the guides and a listing in the Top 100 UK pub awards. The promise of fine ales and fab food awaits our re-opening!
