The Hovingham Inn – changes afoot

As these strange times continue for us all, we have found as one challenge is overcome, another presents itself. Up until now we have weathered the storm by introducing the necessary changes, which has impacted our business. In these very unprecedented times, we along with the rest of the hospitality industry are facing up to a huge challenge – the horrendous lack of staff.

In order to keep moving forward, we now have to make essential changes in the way we operate.
Richard will now be our ‘Lone Ranger’ back to working solo in the kitchen, as previously quoted by food critic Jay Rayner, upon a visit to our first restaurant Artisan. Fortunately, for our business to continue, it is a massive plus point that Richard can undertake such a role. However, it will mean change.

For customers who know us well, our standards mean everything and one pair of hands can only stretch so far!

With immediate effect, our mid-week lunch service will now cease, until further notice.

We shall be open Wednesday to Saturday for dinner only and on Sunday for lunch.

The bar will remain open for drinks service over all lunchtimes, Wednesday to Friday, so please do pop by and see Lindsey. There is no requirement to book for drinks.

Will we now offer two sittings on an evening, commencing at 6.45pm and 8pm. We would respectfully ask all customers to arrive in good time for their reservations. Obviously, there are situations where being late is unavoidable, and we will always endeavour to do our best to serve you. Should you arrive early, then perhaps you would like to enjoy a relaxing drink from the bar beforehand!

Sunday lunch service will commence at 1pm with a second sitting at 2.30pm. Reservations are now ESSENTIAL, in order to avoid disappointment.

The situation going forward will be monitored constantly, with all updates posted to our website.

Lastly, we would like to take this opportunity to mention our part-time kitchen porter vacancy. Should you know of anyone this may be of interest to, or indeed yourself, please do let us know. It’s a cracking little job with fantastic conditions and pay at £10 per hour.

As ever, thank you for support and understanding through these strange times.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Richard and Lindsey
